Bayern Munich Make Hiroki Ito First Summer Signing
Bayern Munich have made Japan defender Hiroki Ito their first summer signing.
The 25-year-old joins from last season's Bundesliga runners up VFB Stuttgart and has signed a four-year contract.
Bayern Munich are looking to reclaim top spot in Bundesliga next term after finishing the 2023/2024 campaign in third place and trophyless on all fronts.
They have a new manager in Vincent Kompany, who has joined from Burnley to replace Thomas Tuchel.
Ito spent three years at Stuttgart and made 29 appearances across all competitions last season.
"It's a great honour for me to be able to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world," Ito told the club website.
"Bayern is also a big name in Japan. I always gave my all for Stuttgart and am grateful to the club. Now I'm looking forward to the challenge in Munich and I want to play my part in FC Bayern winning lots of trophies.
"It was time to take a new step, and for me, Bayern is the perfect club to do so."
Ito has been capped 19 times by the Japan national team.
