After bringing his 21-year stay in Catalonia to an end last week, Paris Saint-Germain are said to be close to securing the services of Messi and Giuly believes the Argentina international’s arrival will have a positive impact on French football.
Messi’s stay in Spain came to a shocking end when Barcelona failed to register him for the upcoming season due to their financial constraint and La Liga’s Financial Fair Play rules.
The 34-year-old confirmed in his press conference on Sunday that a move to play for Paris Saint-Germain could be on the cards as the French side have kept in contact with him since it became official that he will not continue as a Barcelona player.
Many football fans including Giuly are excited to see how the six-time Ballon d’Or winner will be lining up with Neymar and France superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Giuly, who played with Messi during the early stages of the Argentine’s career at the Camp Nou said:
“We already had two of the four best players in the world, now we have the third.
“Do you realize that Neymar, Messi, and Mbappe will play together in Ligue 1? It sounds mind-boggling. Ligue 1 needed such positivity.
“It will not reflect well only on Paris, but on all of France. Everyone will only talk about him, everyone will go to the stadium to see him. It will do our league a lot of good.”
