Griezmann Admits To Early Barcelona Struggles

Antoine Griezmann has admitted that the transition from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona has not been an easy one.

Griezmann ended his five-year stay in the Spanish capital in the summer and joined Barcelona in acrimonious circumstances after the Camp Nou outfit activated his €120m release clause.

Griezmann’s short stay at the Spanish champions so far has not been entirely convincing with rumors rife that his relationship with star man Lionel Messi is a frosty one.

The 28-year-old has scored four goals in 15 appearances for Barcelona thus far as he continues to adapt to his new surroundings.

Away from club football, Griezmann starred for the French national team during the international break and scored the world champions’ second goal on Sunday when they beat Albania 2-0 away.

The former Real Sociedad forward used the opportunity to address his start to life at the Blaugrana, hoping for an improvement in his circumstances as the season progresses.

'Barcelona is not the easiest place [to play],' he told Telefoot.

'It's a new team, a different club, new tactics and a new position and role for me. But it is what it is and it's time to work. Trust me and everything will be good.'

'My goal now is to be an important player in the club, have more minutes, score more goals, make decisive passes, qualify in the Champions League and be up there in the league, be ready for the national team [France] in March and also for Euro 2020.

'I'm a player who thinks about the team. I can score many goals, but that is not my main goal. My goal is to help the team in any way I can.'
