Bruno Lage Reacts To Wolves Victory Over Everton

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Bruno Lage was a happy man after he saw his side beat Everton 2-1 in the Premier League on Monday night.

Lage says he does not care about the current league table and all he wants is for Wolves to keep accumulating enough points.

The hosts opened the scoring on 28 minutes through Max Kilman before Raul Jimenez doubled their advantage four minutes later.

Rafael Benitez’s men improved after the break as Alex Iwobi halved their deficit midway through the second half but that was not enough to turn the game on its head.

Wolves secured consecutive home league victories for the first time since July 2020, when they beat Everton 3-0 and then Crystal Palace 2-0.

"What we did in the first half we didn't deserve to suffer a little bit in the second half. We did very well in the first 45 minutes,” Lage said after the game.

"They changed a little bit for the second half, they tried to play with more midfielders to control our inside game and we didn't adapt to that.

"We didn't press the way we should press but even then we created a lot of chances. Overall for the 90 minutes it was three deserved points for us.

"This is the Premier League, the teams are top teams, the coaches are top coaches, we cannot forget Rafa Benitez won the Champions League, we need to be as a team for the full game and when the other team change we need to continue and adapt.

"He [Raul Jimenez] is the first guy to press, this is the most important thing he does for us and the way he comes to link the game between the lines, very important for us.

"For now I don't care about the table. I want the points. I think the winter will be hard for us, we will have to work. To win the most points we need to win this kind of game."
