Musiala is heading to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup as one of the best and in-form young players.
The Bayern Munich forward has registered 12 goals and provided nine assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this season.
Musiala featured sparingly for Germany at last summer's European championships but is set to play a prominent role when Hansi Flick's side attempt to reclaim the world title from France in Qatar.
The 19-year-old's playmaking abilities and eye for goal has drawn comparison to Argentine legend Messi.
Musiala reckons Messi is on another level but is nonetheless glad to be mentioned in the same bracket as the Paris Saint Germain star.
"I think it's a big honour to be compared to Messi," said Musiala, who will hope to feature in Germany's Group E opener against Japan at the Khalifa International Stadium on Wednesday.
"He has been playing at the top level for his entire career. It's always hard to compare yourself to others. I prefer to focus on myself and on where I can improve.
"It's important to remain relaxed about what's happening and to not put too much pressure on yourself. You also have to have some fun, and then everything will work out.
Musiala has 17 caps and one goal for Germany so far.
The Die Mannschaft will also play Spain and Costa Rica in their group.
