Eriksen Reveals Snubbing Man Utd Repeatedly In The Past

Christian Eriksen has revealed he snubbed various approaches from Manchester United in the past before ultimately deciding to move to Old Trafford this summer.

Eriksen recently signed a three-year contract with the Red Devils as a free agent after leaving Brentford.

The 30-year-old previously spent six-and-a-half years at Tottenham Hotspurs before joining Inter Milan in January 2020.

Adversity struck Eriksen while still on the books of Inter, when he suffered a cardiac arrest when playing for Denmark at EURO 2020.

Eriksen was fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator device which prevented him from playing for Inter Milan and had his contract with the Italian side mutually terminated as a result.

He impressed in a six-month stint with Brentford, scoring once and assisting four times in 11 appearances before earning the move to the red side of Manchester.

The Denmark international has however revealed he could have made the move much earlier in his career after being approached by former Manchester United managers.

"I've spoken to every manager who's been here at Man United to see what the situation was," Eriksen told ESPN.

"But I was at Spurs at the time and I really couldn't see myself playing in another English team at that time. I went abroad and went to Inter.

"It's been on the books, well, not on the books but it's been spoken about. For me, it wasn't the [right] timing, it wasn't there and I was at a place at Spurs for a long time and I wanted to try something abroad, and I went to Inter and ended up having a lovely time.

"But then obviously something happened in the summer and that changed a bit the career path I had in mind, and then obviously to come back to Brentford first of all and then to be here is something I didn't think could happen a year ago."
