Salah Reiterates Desire To Stay At Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has reiterated his desire to remain a Liverpool player, with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.

The 29-year-old has been a revelation for the Reds since joining from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.

Salah has helped Liverpool win the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in his time at the club.

He has regularly been linked with moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past but his commitment to the Liverpool course has never been in doubt.

This term, the former Chelsea man has made 26 appearances across all competitions and has found the back of the net 23 times, providing nine assists.

"I want to stay, but it's not in my hands. It's in their hands," Salah told GQ.

"They know what I want. I'm not asking for crazy stuff.

"The thing is when you ask for something and they show you they can give you something, [they should] because they appreciate what you did for the club.

"I've been here for my fifth year now. I know the club very well. I love the fans. The fans love me. But with the administration, they have [been] told the situation. It's in their hands."

Salah has been shortlisted for FIFA's best men's player for 2021 alongside Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski but the Egyptian came sixth in the final Ballon D'or standings.

Salah says the Ballon D'or is one award he dreams of winning.

"If you asked me if this was a drive for me to be here? Yeah, of course. I can't really lie and say honestly I didn't think about it," he said.

"No, I think about it. I want to be the best player in the world. But I will have a good life even if I don't win [the Ballon d'Or]. My life is okay, everything is fine.

"Sometimes I feel it's just politics."
