Liverpool defeated Manchester United 5-0 thanks to a Mohamed Salah hat-trick and two goals from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota.
Manchester United are yet to win a Premier League game since 19 September.
Neville who has always been defending his former teammate believes Solskjaer got his tactics wrong this time around, disclosing the Norwegian still has the backing of the club’s hierarchy despite the poor results.
"This is as bad as it gets," Neville told Sky Sports . "We've all lost games in a bad way Sir Alex Ferguson with the 6-1 [defeat by Manchester City], it happens but the nature in the performance - they've capitulated.
He added: "There's not doubt the manager will get absolutely battered. there will be calls for his head like you would not believe in the next 24 hours.
"So much has happened today from a United point of view in terms of how it’s bad it’s been.
"There's no doubt Ole and his coaching staff have to take blame for the lack of press. Whatever happened at Leicester has happened today. I can't believe the tactics.
"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has played counter-attack since he's been in the job, so why hasn’t he gone for that today?"
"The board have made everyone aware in briefing they have support of the manager and they'll let him go through these difficult moments but results like this undermine that because losing 5-0 to Liverpool at home with 20 minutes to go, it’s sobering.
"It’s been coming and there needs to be change and I think Ole will be given the chance. But there will be untold pressure from every source."
