Pep Guardiola Praises Phil Foden After Brighton Victory

Pep Guardiola is impressed with the performance by Phil Foden in Manchester City's 4-1 victory over Brighton.

Foden registered two goals in the game to make sure City are poised on defending the Premier League title.

Goals from Foden, Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez were enough for Guardiola's side to record their sixth win in the Premier League after nine games.

Putting up a superb display at the Amex Stadium, Foden drew praises from Guardiola.

“There are players that play in one position and there are players who play football, when you play football it means you can play any position, you understand the game,” he said when asked about Foden’s versatility.

“In the final third he can play up front, has the quality to move and be aggressive one on one and arrive in the box. He can play as a false nine, a winger, wide right or wide left.

“He is a guy who is a midfield player with a big sense of the goal. He is still young and still has a margin to improve.”

Man City are second on the table with 20 points, two points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Foden had a glittering spell last term as he scored 9 goals with five assists in twenty-eight league games but has buldged the net three times with one assist in five matches.

The Citizens will face West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium in the fourth-round of the Carabao Cup.
