Cascarino believes that Allardyce would make Arsenal play better defensively despite acknowledging the fact that the Englishman could not prevent West Bromwich Albion from being relegated last season.
Arsenal currently sit bottom of the Premier League table with zero point in their opening three games. The Gunners have shipped out nine goals and are yet to also score a goal.
Arteta was given the top job at Arsenal after the board sacked Unai Emery in November 2019, but the Spaniard is yet to turn the corner around in North London.
He steered the Gunners to a back-to-back eighth finishes in the Premier League and the fans’ hopes of him making the team better is fast fading away due to their abysmal start to the 2021/2022 season.
Cascarino was speaking to talkSPORT about the current situation of Arsenal and he quickly posited that Allardyce would do a better job than the Spanish tactician
“If you look at what he did to West Brom – I know they went down – but he certainly made them far better defensively,” the 59-year-old said. “He'd make Arsenal way better.
“I know some Arsenal fans don't care about that, they want their teams to have flair, but I think Sam would undoubtedly do a better job than Arteta is doing at the moment.”
