Lukaku believes Ronaldo is one of the best footballers of all-time and has beseeched fans to stop comparing him with the Manchester United forward.
Ronaldo epitomized greatness as far as football is concerned, having been consistent close to two decades.
The Portugal international has made a name for himself in Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Lukaku on the other hand has gradually etched his name among the very best marksmen in the world in recent times, and has gone head-to-head with Ronaldo chasing for the Capocannoniere in the last two seasons in Serie A.
Ronaldo narrowly won it with 29 goals, five more than Lukaku’s return in the Italian league, but the Belgian had the better laugh by winning the Serie A and the Most Valuable Player of the season.
Both Ronaldo and Lukaku have now returned to England playing for Manchester United and Chelsea respectively and fans have started comparing the two, but the former Everton man believes the 36-year-old is in the league of his own.
“Don’t ever compare me to Cristiano Ronaldo, never,” said Lukaku.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is, for me, in the top three best players in the history of football. I’m not going to rank him from first to third, but he’s in there.
“What he has achieved in football today for players of my generation is something exceptional. I was lucky enough to play against him in Italy and now that he’s back in the Premier League, it’s all good for English football.
“As for the rest, comparing statistics and all that, it’s useless.”
