Mitoma has carried his scintillating 2022/2023 form for the Seagulls into the new campaign.
The 26-year-old Japanese forward has recorded three goals and as many assists in eight Premier League games this term.
One of his goals, a solo effort against Wolverhampton Wanderers, won goal of the month in August.
United's frontline have failed to click this season, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial not in form, while Antony and Jadon Sancho have battled off-field distractions.

They play as if every defender is quicker than them, and that's why they don't often dribble or cross as much as they should. They're too worried that they won't get past defenders! They need to be more direct, and the only United forward who possesses that directness is Rasmus Hojlund. The other players are thinking too much.”
