Arteta Impressed With Arsenal’s Reaction To Brentford Loss

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has revealed he was impressed with how his men dealt with their opening day defeat against Brentford last week.

The Gunners were beaten 2-0 by the Premier League newcomers at the Brentford Community Stadium but Arteta says his side have reacted ‘incredibly well’.

Arsenal are preparing for the second game of the season against London rivals Chelsea and the Spanish manager hopes the North Londoner will do enough to beat the flying Blues.

"It's about putting things into perspective. We had an incredible 48 hours before the match which created uncertainty and an unprecedented Arsenal line up. We tried everything in that game and it didn't work out but internally the reaction has been incredibly positive,” Arteta said in his press conference on Friday.

"It's one day and we have the whole season ahead of us and any negativity surrounding the team will be outside of these walls."

Arsenal have not lost a game against Chelsea in their last four meetings and the 39-year-old hopes the trend continues.

The former Everton midfielder added: "We expect what they've done over the last few years. they are a top team with world class players and a top manager. they are champions of Europe and we expect a tough match. We are going to go there and try to win the football match."
