Reus believes that the Black and Yellows’ main problem is not being able to put up good performances throughout the season.
Dortmund have been second to Bayern Munich in recent years in terms of dominance in the Bundesliga landscape. They have not won the league since they last did in the 2011/2012 season and Reus believes it all boils down to being consistent.
Borussia Dortmund dropped points on 14 occasions in the Bundesliga in 2020-21, losing ten of their games while drawing four.
Some of the points dropped were in a highly unexpected fashion as it was against relegation-threatened sides.
Dortmund finished third behind champions Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig on the Bundesliga table.
With the arrival of a new head coach Marco Rose, Die Borussen will be hoping for better things and Reus has called on his side to show more consistency in the coming season.
“Consistency. That has always been a key word for us in recent years,” the 32-year-old told the media.
“There were spells when we were very good, then we had spells when we weren’t stable.
“That’s what we need to do better this season and pick up points even if we play poorly. That’s what characterizes the teams that end up winning titles and are one step further ahead in the way they go about a game.”
