Silva believes Militao has what it takes to fill the shoes of the Spaniard at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ramos brought an end to his 16-year stay in the Spanish capital following the conclusion of the 2020/2021 season.
The 2010 World Cup winner was Los Blancos’ main man at the heart of defense, helping Real Madrid win many titles throughout the years.
Militao on the other hand, joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 and he is becoming one of the key men for the Merengues.
After playing only 20 times in all competitions in his debut season, the former Porto man followed it with 21 games in the 2020/2021 season.
With the departure of Ramos, he will be getting more minutes under his belt and Silva has backed him to show his worth.
“I believe that from now, with the exit of Sergio Ramos, he is going to be one of the pillars of Real Madrid,” Silva said of Militao to reporters, per Sport.
“I told him after our game against each other [in the Champions League semi-final last season] to continue like this, that he really was having a great year and to continue like this because in this form, we are going to be playing in the national team for a long time.”
“Militao trusts his speed a lot. He’s a very quick guy and sometimes he loses his position a bit because he knows he will track back successfully.
“That’s something I learned when I got to Milan and it’s something I try to tell and teach him.
