Modric says the Three Lions have ‘so many great players’ that are eager to succeed with the national team.
Croatia have been drawn in Group D with England, Czech Republic and Scotland, and will start their tournament with a game against Gareth Southgate’s men on Sunday.
Modric has fond memories of meeting the Englishmen as his side knocked them out of the World Cup semi-final in Russia.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder believes this current England side are better than the one they met in 2018 and has tipped them to contend for the prestigious trophy.
“For me, they are better than they were three years ago. No doubt,” said Modric in a press conference ahead of Croatia‘s opening Euro 2020 match against England.
“The main threats? To say one player is difficult because they have so many great players, talented players, young players that are hungry for the success and will be very dangerous at this Euros. For me, they are one of the favourites.
“Especially as they are playing at home and it’s a good part for them. Advantage? It’s not a huge one but it is as there will not be away fans.
“That’s why I think they are certainly one of the favourites.
