Italy Announce Euro 2020 Squad

Italy national team head coach Roberto Mancini has announced his 26-man squad for the upcoming European tournament.

The Azzurri are looking to win their first major trophy since 2006, when they won the World Cup in Germany at the expense of France.

Italy have been drawn in Group A with Switzerland, Turkey and Wales and will be opening the tournament at the Stadio Olimpico against Turkey on June 11.

The former Manchester City and Inter Milan manager had to cut down the provisional 28-man squad to 26.

Speaking to the primetime television special Notte Azzurra, Mancini said he hopes his side can make the fans happy as he announced the full squad.

“We hope that this adventure lasts as long as possible and we can make the Italians happy,” the 56-year-old said.

“Our Nazionale was born after the disappointment of the 2018 World Cup and many young players came in, plus we fortunately started strong and that helped create this positive atmosphere.”
