Pogba managed to play the full 90 minutes through injury in a low-quality draw against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday but was left at home in United’s Europa league trip to AZ Alkmaar.
The world cup winner has spent much of the past month nursing an ankle injury he picked up against Southampton before the last international break.
Manchester United are enduring their worst start to a season in 30 years and their poor form has been compounded by injuries to key players at the embryonic stage of the campaign.
Jesse Lingard limped off during Thursday’s draw against the Eredivisie side, adding to other first team players like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw, who are all currently spending time on the treatment table.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unsure when his injured players will be back in action as he provided updates at a press conference on their availability ahead of their encounter at Saint James’ Park.
“Probably not [but] let's see on Saturday morning,” replied Solskjaer, when asked if any players are coming back.
“Paul? Probably not. There's the international break to come and that might be the time to give them 10-14 days extra to get them ready for the Liverpool game.”
Solskjaer concluded his press conference by hoping there would not be more absentees after playing on a plastic pitch in Holland.
'It’s a hard surface, very hard, but hopefully they’ll be okay. They will have a couple of days for recovery and should be ready for Newcastle – no excuses whatsoever'.
‘We are a team that can be set up well to play away from home, sometimes you can play on the counter. Against Alkmaar we didn't get the counter-attacks as we wanted to because Astroturf on a pitch like this it's you attack, we attack - it's handball.
