Real Madrid Urged To Keep Ramos Amid Future Speculation

Former Real Madrid and Turkey midfielder Hamit Altintop has urged the Spanish giants to keep captain Sergio Ramos amid speculations over his future.

The Spain international’s future at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu has been left in a thin air as he will be out of contract at the end of this season.

The 35-year-old has spent almost 16 years in Madrid with Los Blancos but he is yet to be given a new deal.

Ramos is currently out injured after picking up an injury during an international duty with La Roja and will be missing this Saturday’s El Clasico against Barcelona and the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final game against Liverpool.

Reports have linked the former Sevilla defender with a move to clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United but Altintop has urged Real Madrid to reach a new deal agreement with Ramos.

“Sergio Ramos is amazing. He’s amazing. On and off the pitch,” Altintop, who spent the 2011-12 campaign with Real after joining from Bayern Munich, told Goal in an exclusive interview.

“He knows the rules. He knows what’s needed to get results, to win the biggest trophies. His experience is incredible. Not many players spend 15 or 16 years at Real Madrid.

“I have a lot of respect for him, and he deserves everything; all trophies, all contracts, all interest! Real would miss him badly if he left.”

Ramos has played 670 matches for Real Madrid, scoring 101 goals and provided 40 assists in all competitions.
