Maddison believes he has what it takes to be a mainstay in the Three Lions squad under head coach Gareth Southgate.
Maddison received his first international call-up to the England senior team in October 2019 for the UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain but got his first cap when he came on as a substitute in a 7-0 victory over Montenegro in November 2019.
The 24-year-old is having a great season in the Premier League with the Foxes as he has scored six goals and provided seven assists in 21 matches.
Maddison wishes his performances can convince Southgate to include him in his plans.
“I know I am good enough. I just want that opportunity.” he said to Football Focus.
“Hopefully that is something I can strive towards. That is not a target I will hide. I want to be back in the England squad, simple as that,” Maddison added.
Maddison continued: “If that wasn’t my target there would be something wrong. I have come through the lower leagues and that feeling of representing my country against Montenegro was the best feeling ever.
“That is something I am very hungry for. That is why I am working every day, why I am staying out on the training pitch longer to help this Leicester team and ultimately break back into the England team.”
