'Records Are There To Be Broken' -Guardiola Reacts To Man City ‘Win’ Record

Manchester City made it 15 consecutive wins when they put Swansea to the sword in the FA Cup on Wednesday and manager Pep Guardiola has hailed his side for making history.

The Citizens became the first English top-flight team to win 15 games on the bounce. They have also not been beaten since a 2-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur in November, a run of 22 games in all competitions.

Guardiola on the other hand also recorded his 200th win in charge of Manchester City.

"It is a message for ourselves - we came here to win the game and that's the most important thing," Guardiola told BT Sport when asked about the new winning record after the 3-1 win over Swansea.

"But we cannot deny how pleased and proud we are for our club to break the record from a long time ago.

"The records made once will be broken so the record is there for another team to come along and break it but they'll have to do well so it's not easy in the modern era to win 15 games in a row. It's good today, now onto the next once."

He added: "It shows how special these players are... It means a lot, to do what we have done in the winter time and Christmas time is quite remarkable.

"It is the toughest time, but what is important is the way we are still playing with our consistency. We have an incredible week ahead of us and we will approach it game by game."

Manchester City will welome Jose Mourinho’s Spurs to the Etihad in the Premier League on Sunday.
