Leicester could have swiftly gotten their second goal when Marc Albrighton came down the right and was allowed to go a long way with the ball, he then turned inside and teed up James Maddison, who smashed the ball off the crossbar.
Chelsea thought they had been handed a lifeline when a penalty was awarded by referee Craig Pawson after Jonny Evans brought down Christian Pulisic just inside the area. The decision was overturned by VAR and awarded the visitors a free-kick.
Maddison slotted Leicester’s second on the 41st minute mark after another defensive error from Frank Lampard’s men.
Leicester City started the second half in similar fashion as Albrighton had the ball at the back of the net ten minutes after the interval but his effort was ruled out for offside.
Substitute Timo Werner thought he had ended his goalless scoring run when he tapped home a free-kick from fellow substitute Hakim Ziyech but the goal did not count as the German could not beat the offside trap.
