The Gunners were hoping to make it four wins out of their last four Premier League matches but a well-drilled Crystal Palace side made sure the spoils were shared.
The hosts could have taken the lead inside the opening 20 minutes when striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cut back inside and tested Vicente Guaita with a drive from the edge of the box which the Spanish goalkeeper parried it away.
Roy Hodgson’s men grew into the game and started causing Arsenal a lot of troubles as they twice went close to opening the scoring only for the woodwork and then Bernd Leno to come to Arteta’s side’s rescue.
Arsenal are now winless in their last five matches against Crystal Palace, drawing four of those and losing one.
"We created a lot of situations against the low block but lacked the final quality. We probably didn't do enough to win the game,’ Arteta said after the game.
"We are playing a lot of games and you can see fatigue is paying a price, many players aren't fresh. "We had a period that was fatigue related where we kept giving the ball away. We lacked the quality in the final third to win the game."
"Some freshness and quality in the final third was missing. We had a lot of entries into the final third but no big, big chances.
"I wanted to see a win and to score a few goals but we were fatigued. We gave the ball away, but I cannot fault the spirit. It wasn't enough.
"Roy Hodgson has done that all through his career, that is how they beat a lot of big teams. We had the plan we just didn't have the execution."
