The Blues took the lead inside the opening ten minutes after defender Thiago Silva rose highest to head home a Mason Mount corner.
Chelsea were made to hustle about to protect their lead before Tammy Abraham’s late double made sure Lampard’s men secured a crucial win over their rivals.
Werner failed to find the back of the net against the Hammers and has now drawn a blank in his last eight outings for Chelsea since his goal against Sheffield United on November 7.
Speaking to the media after the game, Lampard reflected on Chelsea’s win against David Moyes’ side and believes it is just a matter of time before the former RB Leipzig man starts scoring again.
“It was nice to see that at the end because we had a period at 1-0 where it was tough, we dealt with that well,” the Englishman said.
“Once we got the second goal, Kovacic came on and got us up the pitch and we could have had more goals in the end.
"That's the period Timo (Werner) is in, it's unfortunate but he's getting in the positions - when one (goal) goes in it will be a run for him.”
“Tammy (Abraham) and Oli (Giroud) both bring different things, Tammy did his thing today and that's what we needed.
"West Ham are a good team on good form, so many threats, I thought today would be a tough match and it proved to be so, even in the not beautiful moments we defended superbly - Thiago Silva did brilliantly with that.
"We dropped off slightly and it was important tonight we came back, there were loads of things for the team to show their character - we want more.
"Christmas has been changed for everybody this year, for the lads we just have to prepare for Arsenal, it's a busy time of year for us."
