After a 22-year career in senior football, the four-time African footballer of the year has now hung up his boots for good.
Eto’o who, joined Real Madrid’s academy system in 1996 tasted his first-team football when the White Angels loaned him to CD Leganés a year after his arrival.
The versatile forward had a successful career in Spain where he managed to lead the line for Barcelona, a venue he spent five years at before joining Italian giants Inter Milan.
With Qatar SC being his last club, Eto’o has now confirmed his retirement from the sport.
Eto'o wrote on Instagram: "The End. Towards a new challenge. Thank you all, big love."
Eto’o made 718 competitive appearances at club level as he bulged the net 359 times, involving in 116 goals.
The Cameroonian footballer also won three Champions League titles among other domestic honours in both Spain and Italy.
Aside winning trophies with club teams, the former Barcelona, Inter and Chelsea striker also earned himself an Olympic gold medal during the 2000 games in Sydney.
Before moving to Qatar SC in 2018, a destination he ended his career at, Eto’o plied his trade in Russia, England, Italy and Turkey.
Playing out his contract with the club in July, Eto’o recorded 6 goals in eighteen appearances for the side.
