Fabregas Reveals Snubbing Real Madrid Multiple Times

Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has disclosed that due to his commitment to Arsenal, he rejected Spanish giants Real Madrid several times.

In a glittering career at Arsenal, Fabregas got the attention of the Los Blancos as they tried to bring him back to his homeland after leaving Barcelona in 2003.

But the current AS Monaco versatile midfielder says he ignored Madrid because he was highly committed to Arsenal.

"They called me more than once or twice. The first time I was very young. I was 18 and they offered me a big salary, but I felt like I belonged at Arsenal.

"Wenger had bet the farm on me. I couldn't leave. In any case, I'll always be grateful to Madrid for the way they treated me.

"When I was 23 I had a serious calf injury and they sent me a really nice message.

"I'm grateful for their interest in me but I always dreamed of playing for Barcelona and if I felt that way it was for a reason. It all worked out pretty well for me."

As a La Masia graduate, Fabregas joined Arsenal at age 16 as he recorded his first debut for the club in a game against Rotterdam United in a League Cup fixture.

After eight years at Arsenal, the Spanish player re-joined Barcelona for a reported €29 million with a further €5 million before returning to the Premier League with Chelsea.

The 32-year-old, who currently plies his trade in the French Ligue 1 made thirteen appearances for Les Monégasques last season but has featured just once in the new season.
