Everton have two players on the list in the shape of James Rodriguez and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, likewise Leicester City, who are represented by Jamie Vardy and Timothy Castagne.
Sadio Mane, Tariq Lamptey, Patrick Bamford and Harry Kane complete the shortlist.
Summer signing Rodriguez has been instrumental in Everton winning all three games so far, with one goal and one assist to his name so far while teammate Calvert-Lewin has continued from where he left off last season. The 23-year-old is the joint top scorer in the top flight with five goals, including a hattrick against West Bromwich Albion on matchday 2. He has been rewarded with a call-up into the England national team for the first time.
Last season’s top goalscorer Vardy has also notched five goals which included a hattrick in Leicester City’s last outing, a 5-2 win at Manchester City. Teammate Castagne has provided a pair of assists and scored once in his three games for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Kane was on his playmaking best in the first month of the season, supplying five assists for his teammates and scoring one himself.
Mane was on target three times during the month, including a brace at Chelsea and Bamford scored a goal in each of Leeds United’s three games and added an assist.
Brighton full-back Lamptey provided an assist and won two penalties against Newcastle and Manchester United.
