Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad ahead of the 2020/2021 season and Parlour believes Lacazette is a ‘disposable asset’ and should be sacrificed for new signings.
Th Gunners have already secured the services of Willian from Chelsea on a free transfer and and Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes is likely to join.
The North Londoners have also made deals for Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares permanent, and are hoping to extend captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s stay at the Emirates Stadium.
There could be more arrivals before the end of the transfer window having been linked with players like Thomas Partey and Olympique Lyonnais’ Houssem Aouar.
Parlour has suggested that Lacazette, who has two years left on his contract, should be sold this summer.
“Lacazette will be the one, the asset,” the former Arsenal midfielder said on Friday’s talkSPORT Breakfast.
“You look at the assets they’ve got, there isn’t many really. They’ve got Aubameyang, but with him you’re not going to get as much as you’d like because, currently, he’s only got a year left on his contract.”
“Probably the asset will be Lacazette. I know Juventus were interested in maybe buying him.”
“Sometimes you have to lose a player to bring players in. You do need to freshen up the dressing room.”
“I like Lacazette, he’s a decent player, but we have Eddie Nketiah and it’s all about whether he can step up now and improve as a centre-forward.”
