Alaba made a move to Real Madrid this summer following a successful stint at Bayern Munich and Ancelotti is expecting the two-time Champions League winner to hit the ground running in his debut season in La Liga.
Having worked with Alaba during his time as Bayern Munich manager, Ancelotti knows the quality possessed by the Austrian.
The 29-year-old was very successful at Bavaria and he is considered as one of the best players of this generation.
Alaba started his professional career as a left-back, but was deployed at the heart of defence during his latter days at the Allianz Arena.
He has also operated as a central midfielder and a winger at times especially when playing for the Austrian national team.
“Alaba is a complete player, with a lot of quality and tactically intelligent in defence,” said Ancelotti per Marca.
“I put him at centre-back in the last games [at Bayern Munich], [but] sometimes he plays in midfield for Austria [and] he can also play on the left [side of defence].
“He is a complete player who is going to do very well this season.”
Alaba played over 400 games for Bayern Munich in all competitions between 2010 and 2021. He scored 33 goals and provided 55 assists in the process for the Bavarian giants.
He is expected to play a major role in Ancelotti’s team, who will be seeking to reclaim La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League title.
