Everton’s recent records against their bitter rivals is nothing to write home about, having already been beaten twice by Jurgen Klopp’s juggernauts this season, thus the 5-2 annihilation in the Premier League before knocking them out of the FA Cup in January.
Liverpool are on the cusp of winning their first league title in 30 years and are currently two wins away from bringing the Premier League to Merseyside.
The English football season will be back in mid-June following its three-month hiatus due to Covid-19, and Liverpool resume their season with a game at the Goodison Park.
Pickford says his team-mate are desperate to show their worth and are poised to send the runaway league leaders home with their tail between their legs.
“We want to win every game we play and any sort of derby match is massive for the fans and for players,” the 26-year-old told Sky Sports News.
“We want to show how good we can be and we have an opportunity to beat them. We know they are a good side, they are top of the league. We just want to do our best and try to beat them.
“We know we have the ability in the squad to beat them. We just want to do it for ourselves and our fans.”
Everton are hoping to secure a place in Europe next season when the season resumes, as they now sit just six points behind sixth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
