Khedira Eyes European Glory With Juventus

Germany midfielder Sami Khedira is dreaming of winning the Champions League with Serie A giants Juventus.

Juventus have completely dominated the Serie A landscape, winning the Scudetto for the last eight consecutive seasons. European glory has however eluded them to a frustrating degree.

Despite getting to the competition’s final on several occasions, the Bianconeri have not won the Champions League since 1996 when they beat Eredivisie side Ajax on penalties at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

For the Turin-based club, domestic success alone no longer appear to be enough, and Khedira, who was part of the Real Madrid side that hoisted the coveted trophy in 2014, admits it is his dream to replicate similar heroics with Vecchia Signora.

“Yes, of course, that’s why I play football,” said the 33-year-old on Instagram live after he was asked by a fan if he still felt hungry for success.

“I won almost everything, but winning is like a drug. If you don’t win for one year, the next you try to win all kinds of titles.”

“My dream is to win the Champions League with Juventus. We came close three or four years ago with the final against Real Madrid.”

“I think we can win the Champions League with Juventus over the next few years and it’s not just my dream, but also that of the Bianconeri fans.”

The 2014 World Cup winner has been with Juventus since 2015 after he spent five years in La Liga playing for Los Blancos.
