Mbappe Wants To Share Golden Boot Award With Ben Yedder

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe believes his AS Monaco counterpart Wissam Ben Yedder deserves a share of the Ligue 1 golden boot.

The LFP (Ligue de Football Professionnel) took the decision to award Mbappe the French Ligue 1 golden boot after the season was ended early due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Mbappe and Ben Yedder both scored 18 goals before the league was suspended at the beginning of March, but the 2018 World Cup winner claimed the prize outright due to the fact that he scored all of his goals from open play, unlike the former Sevilla man who scored three of his 18 from the penalty spot.

The 21-year-old has taken to his social media account to urge the LFP to give Ben Yedder a share of the trophy, by citing an example with what the Premier League did last season by splitting the golden boot between Liverpool duo Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang when all scored 22 goals.

"Thank you for all your messages. I think that Wissam also deserves a trophy, like the Premier League did last season, to reward his year," the Monaco academy graduate said, which ended with the hashtag 'A trophy for Wissam'.

In response to Mbappe’s tweet, Ben Yedder said: "Thank you bro, congratulations to you... We can alternate if you want.”
