Martinez is getting the necessary adulation across the football world following his spectacular form in Serie A this season.
The Argentine scored 16 goals in 31 games for the Nerazzurri in all competitions before the season was suspended due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
Crespo believes Martinez has what it takes to become one of the best in the world just like Aguero.
Despite comparing the Inter Milan forward to the former Atletico Madrid man, Crespo thinks Martinez is more of a team player unlike Aguero.
In a wide-range interview with Sky Italia, the iconic striker was asked to judge the current Argentina forwards in Europe and he admitted he is impressed with Martinez.
The 44-year-old said: “We know Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala, while we are getting to see what Lautaro Martinez can do.”
“Lautaro could well be the new Sergio Aguero. He’s not as sharp in his dribbling, but he is more of a team player than Kun, who too often gets distracted and looks disinterested.”
“Lautaro is always participating in the move, so he can play as a lone centre-forward or with another striker like Romelu Lukaku, even in a trident. I really like his mentality.”
Martinez has caught the eyes of many top European clubs, with the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City hoping to lure him away from San Siro.
