Arteta Praises 'Special' Moyes Ahead Of Arsenal's Trip To West Ham

Mikel Arteta has reserved special praise for David Moyes ahead of Arsenal's trip to West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.

Arteta played under Moyes for six seasons at Everton between 2005 and 2011 before leaving for Arsenal.

The two will meet at the London Stadium with their sides enjoying contrasting fortunes at opposite ends of the Premier League table.

Arsenal are looking to stretch their three-point lead at the top of the table while the Hammers will be looking to move six points clear of the relegation zone.

"It's more than respect, it's admiration," Arteta said of the Scot.

"I loved playing for him," added the 41-year-old Arteta, who was signed by Moyes from Real Sociedad.

"I would go through a brick wall for him when he was my manager. I think everybody would in that squad.

"[He is] exceptional at managing the group and dealing with individuals, and a very special person, a really special human being.

"Very trustworthy and a man who honours his word, someone who I learned a lot from. He saw things in me I didn't know and asked me to play in positions I never played before in my life."

Moyes was equally effusive in his praise of Arteta and admires the work he has done with Arsenal.

"Mikel was a great player for me at Everton and helped us take Everton up the league," he said.

"He knew how he wanted his football to be played. He was a very talented player and he's been able to put over things about his playing style which he wants in his own team."

"It's looked as if Arsenal are quite relentless as well, they are going away and playing very well at a lot of big clubs. We know we're in for a tough game."
