Lukaku Has Nothing To Prove To Anybody In The Premier League

Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku has insisted he has nothing to prove to anybody after making a return to the Premier League to play for Chelsea.

Lukaku says the only thing that motivates him is his personal goals and insists he is not back to the Premier League to prove fans wrong.

After failing to impress at Stamford Bridge when he was first introduced to English football, the Belgian excelled at subsequent adventures at West Bromwich Albion and Everton, before making a big move to Manchester United in the summer of 2017.

Lukaku scored 42 goals in two seasons at Old Trafford but was deemed as not good enough which forced him to make a move to the San Siro to play for Inter Milan.

He established himself as one of the best players under Antonio Conte and ended up helping the Nerazzurri to their first league title in eleven years.

Lukaku completed a move back to Chelsea from Inter Milan in a deal worth £97.5 million last week bringing an end to a two-year spell at the San Siro.

The 28-year-old is in contention to make his second debut for the Blues when they make a short trip across London to face Arsenal on Sunday.

He said: “I don’t have to prove anything to anyone. The only thing that motivates me is myself. I am a self-motivator and always have been. I’m a Chelsea player and happy to be here now.”

“I have experienced success elsewhere and also a different playing style where it’s more technical based and tactical. The Premier League has a bit of everything and the experiences I had a few years ago were great. I loved every minute of it on and off the field. But the experiences in Italy made me more complete as a player.”

“Now it’s just about what I have learned in Italy. Watching the Premier League over the last few years, the players have got better. The teams have got better and I am ready for the challenge.”
