Varane Backed To Bring Winning Mentality To Old Trafford

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has backed new team-mate Raphael Varane to bring winning mentality to Old Trafford.

Varane’s move to Manchester United from Real Madrid became official over the weekend as he was presented to the Old Trafford crowd during the Red Devils’ Premier League opener against Leeds United.

Having won everything with Real Madrid and France, Varane has a lot of experience under his belt due to his stupendous C.V.

He left the Santiago Bernabeu winning four Champions League trophies, three La Liga titles among other laurels.

He was also part of Didier Deschamps’ side which won the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Varane is expected to form a partnership with Maguire at the heart of defense at Manchester United in the coming years.

Th Englishman is hoping the 28-year-old is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s final piece of United’s puzzle.

“You’ve seen what he’s won over his career,” said Maguire, per The Guardian. “He’s played in some of the top teams about – the French squad and Real Madrid – and he’s won absolutely everything.

“I think he’ll bring that winning mentality and his footballing ability to the club. To bring in players of his calibre is really, really exciting.

“It boosts our defensive option. We’ve got an amazing number of centre-backs now, all internationals who are all proven in the Premier League.”

Maguire and Manchester United are off to a flyer in the 2021/2022 season following an emphatic 5-1 victory over Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
