Ex-Real Madrid Manager Slams Zidane Over Reasons For His Bernabeu Exit

Former Real Madrid head coach Benito Floro has launched a scathing attack on Zinedine Zidane over his comments following his exit from Santiago Bernabeu after the end of the 2020/2021 season.

The French coach left his post as Real Madrid trainer after Los Blancos ended the season without winning a single trophy.

In his open letter to the fans of Real Madrid, Zidane revealed that he left the Spanish capital as he felt the club does not trust him anymore.

Floro believes Zidane should have shown more respect to the club president Florentino Perez by being docile in his comments.

“I was surprised by Zidane’s reaction because he should have respected Florentino Perez more,” Floro, who coached Real Madrid between 1992 and 1994 said on Radio MARCA.

“He’s the one who’s given him everything, both as a player and as a coach. He’ll have his reasons but we don’t know what they are.

“I don’t think it’s that difficult being the Real Madrid coach. They give you the best players, the best facilities.

“I don’t know why Zidane was complaining because the club has always supported him.”

Zidane is considered as one of the best coaches in the history of Real Madrid. In his first stint with the Madrid-based club, the Frenchman won many trophies which includes three consecutive Champions League trophies and one La Liga.

He returned to take over the Spanish side less than a year after leaving his post, and guided them to another La Liga title in the first full season of his second stint.
