Esperito Santo Frustrated With VAR For Denying Wolves’ Goal Against Leicester

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Esperito Santo has expressed his frustrations with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system after having a goal denied against Leicester City on Friday.

Wolves and Leicester played out a 0-0 draw at Molineux but the hosts could have taken all three points had Willy Boly’s first half header not been ruled out by VAR after Pedro Neto was adjudged to have streaked marginally offside in the build-up.

Wolves have now had four goals ruled out by VAR this season with only Watford, who have five, the only side to have been denied more.

The decision to disallow Wolves’ goal is the latest in a long line of controversial calls made by the technology in its debut season in the Premier League.

Santo was clearly not impressed after the game and the Portuguese manager did not hide his frustrations after the game.

Nuno said: “There used to be an expression here in England about ‘clear daylight.’ in these decisions.

“The law is the law, but is there a clear advantage? I’m still positive, I’m upset of course because Molineux was buzzing and suddenly was down.

“Something has to be done. When you have something and someone takes it away, you don’t like it but the law is the law.

“I’m not a specialist on refereeing, we are not judging the work of the referees here. I’m frustrated with the situation and all that is involved. We should not be sitting here talking about this.”

Wolves have taken up 7th spot on the league log with their point against Leicester.
