Ian Wright Blames Solskjaer For Rashford Injury

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has blamed Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the injury that is set to keep Marcus Rashford out of action for up to three months.

Rashford suffered a back injury when he came on as a second half substitute in Manchester United’s FA Cup third round replay win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford last week, lasting just 16 minutes on the pitch before going off again.

The 22-year-old England international subsequently missed Sunday’s trip to Liverpool, where the Red Devils lost 2-0 to the unbeaten league leaders.

Solskjaer said after the game that Rashford will miss at least six weeks of action but reports indicate he could be out until April.

Rashford had been carrying a back injury for some time and was substituted after scoring twice against Norwich City on January 11 as a precaution.

'Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he knew Marcus Rashford was struggling and played him against Wolves - now he's out for three months,' Wright told the Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live.

'We're talking about an explosive player that's going to need to be right.

'Solskjaer is under intense pressure to get United back where they were and he's thought about himself before he thought about the player. Solskjaer has put himself above Marcus Rashford's health.

'Now, one of their most promising and most important players is out and that has to come to the manager's door.'

Rashford is United’s top scorer this season with 14 Premier League goals.
