Antonio Conte Sacked By Tottenham Following Rant At Players And Club Officials

Tottenham Hotspurs have parted company with manager Antonio Conte following a 16-month association.

Conte's position at the North London club became untenable after he launched a furious tirade at club officials and players following Tottenham's 3-3 draw with Southampton just before the international break.

The Italian joined Spurs in November 2021 as a replacement for Nuno Esperito Santo and helped them achieve a fourth place finish at the end of the season.

Tottenham have endured an inconsistent season thus far despite sitting in fourth position on the table and have been knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup this month.

Conte had a contract until the end of this season but Spurs have opted to cut ties with the former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss early.

Conte's assistant Cristian Stellini has been placed in interim charge for the rest of the season, with Ryan Mason acting as his assistant.

"We can announce that Head Coach Antonio Conte has left the Club by mutual agreement. We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season at the Club. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future," a club statement read.

"Cristian Stellini will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, along with Ryan Mason as Assistant Head Coach."

Club chairman Daniel Levy added: "We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place. We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters."
