Hatayspor Sporting Director's Body Recovered From Turkey Earthquake

Hatayspor have announced the body of the club's sporting director Taner Savut has been recovered from the debris of the Turkey earthquake.

Savut had gone missing since the 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on February 6.

The 48-year-old's body was recovered from the same building where Christian Atsu's was found last week.

Atsu's body has since been returned to Ghana for burial.

"Our condolences. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our sporting director Taner Savut. May the Almighty have mercy on our teacher, our condolences to his family and fans. We will not forget you, (Mr.) Taner. May you rest in heaven. You are always in our hearts," read a statement issued by Hatayspor.

The Turkish Football Federation have paid tribute to Savut with a statement that read: "We learned with deep sadness that Taner Savut, the Sporting Director of Atakaş Hatayspor, one of the Spor Toto Süper Lig clubs, lost his life in the earthquake that stifled our country. May the Almighty have mercy on Taner Savut, to his grieving family, relatives and Hatayspor. Our condolences to the family."

More than 45,000 people have now been confirmed dead from the earthquake.
