Fernando Llorente Retires From Football At 37

Former Spain, Juventus and Tottenham Hotspurs striker Fernando Llorente has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 37.

Llorente had been without a club since leaving Spanish second division side Eibar at the end of last season.

Llorente started his career at Athletic Bilbao and spent eight years with the club's first team before joining Juventus in the summer of 2013.

The blue-eyed striker won three Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia and finished as runners up in the 2015 Champions League with the Old Lady.

A switch to Sevilla in the summer of 2015 brought one Europa League title for Llorente before further spells at Swansea City, Spurs, Napoli and Udinese.

He earned another Champions League losers' medal during his time with Spurs in 2019.

Llorente was part of the Spain sides that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and EURO 2012.

'No, no. It's all clear to me now. I'm still keeping fit by playing padel,' Llorente, who has been without a club since his one-year contract with Eibar expired last year, told Spanish TV when asked if he would return to the pitch.
