De Gea's contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of this season.
The 32-year-old has been at Manchester United since 2011 and has gone on to make 517 appearances for the club.
De Gea has won one Premier League title, one FA Cup, one League Cup and one Europa League in his time at Old Trafford.
After a difficult few years, United have found some stability under Erik Ten Hag this season and De Gea wants to stay to enjoy more good moments.
"We're still talking. I'm just focused on the games, that's the most important thing, but for sure it's going to end in a good way," De Gea said of his contract negotiations.
"I've been in very tough moments for this club. Now I'm enjoying it more. It's great.
"The team spirit is great, the atmosphere is great. Everyone is thinking in the same way, playing in the same way.
"We have a good manager, good players who bring experience to the team, people who want the ball, who play well with the ball. It's a mix of everything."
A 2-1 win over Crystal Palace over the weekend extended a 13-game winning run at Old Trafford across all competitions while they have a date with Newcastle United at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final at the end of this month.
