French Football Federation Condemn Camavinga Racist Abuse After Nkunku Injury

The French Football Federation have condemned racist abuse directed towards Eduardo Camavinga in the aftermath of Christopher Nkunku's World Cup-ending injury.

Nkunku was ruled out of Qatar 2022 earlier this week after getting injured during a challenge with Camavinga in training.

The RB Leipzig forward was one of France's most in-form players heading into the tournament, having struck 12 goals in 15 Bundesliga games this season.

He was voted the Bundesliga's player of the season last term after scoring 20 goals and providing 13 assists in 34 matches.

Camavinga has been targeted with discriminatory messages on social media following the incident and the FFF have swiflt leapt to his defence.

A statement released by the FFF on Thursday read: "Following Christopher Nkunku's injury, Eduardo Camavinga was the victim of racist messages on social media.

"The FFF condemns these attacks in the strongest possible terms and is in full support of Eduardo."

France have also been robbed off the services of three members of their victorious 2018 World Cup campaign after N'golo Kante, Paul Pogba and Presnel Kimpembe succumbed to injury while they are also sweating on the fitness of Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane.

France manager Didier Deschamps has called up Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani as a replacement for Nkunku.

France are in the same group with Australia, Denmark and Tunisia.
