Ndidi Ruled Out For Rest Of Season With Knee Injury

Leicester City midfielder Wilfried Ndidi has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The 25-year-old Nigeria international has not played since going off in the 2-1 defeat at Rennes in the Europa Conference League earlier this month.

Ndidi missed Nigeria's cruch FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ghana as a result, which the Black Stars triumphed via the away goal rule to advance to Qatar.

Ahead of Leicester City's trip to Manchester United on Saturday, manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed Ndidi will play no part for the remainder of the season.

'Wilfred Ndidi will be out for the season, it's a shame for us but he'll get ready for next season," Rodgers said at his pre-match news conference.

'It's unfortunate. He's been a brilliant player for me in my time here. He picked up a nasty injury that has had to have surgery on and he'll recover now until June.'

Ndidi has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Leicester this season, scoring two goals.

It is not all doom and gloom on the Injury front for 10th placed Leicester however, with key players set to return from the sidelines.

Rodgers added: 'The players are starting to come back now which is great. Jonny Evans will be available, whether he plays the whole game, starts or comes off the bench we'll see.

'It's great to have him back, we'll have to build him up. Wesley Fofana will be back involved as well. We're starting to get players back.

'Jonny Evans is a player who's been a huge influence in my time here. He's a player that's played at the top level of his game through his career.

'His standards every day are top level, so his influence in the team is a big plus.'

“Wesley [Fofana] will be back involved as well. Luke Thomas picks up an injury, so he’s a doubt for the weekend.”
