Roy Keane Urges Man Utd To Go In For Diego Simeone

Roy Keane has asked Manchester United to go in for Diego Simeone as the club’s next permanent manager.

The former Red Devils captain believes the Atletico Madrid manager has the personality to get the best out of Manchester United’s current crop of stars.

United are currently under the guidance of interim manager Ralph Rangnick until the end of the season, having sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in November.

Not much has changed since Rangnick took over, with Saturday’s 0-0 home draw with relegation threatened Watford putting a dent on their top four credentials.

Simeone has been in charge of Atletico for well over a decade, winning eight trophies in total, including two La Liga titles, but with his side also struggling for a top four place in Spain, many feel his course at the club has been run.

"Maybe Simeone, he’s the right kind of character. He’s having a difficult spell with Atletico. His race has maybe run with them,” Keane said on The Overlap Live when asked about his preferred choice for the Old Trafford job.

"Simeone, go and get him, he’s a big character. He’s done great things. He’s a great character, a big personality. He doesn’t mess around with players. Maybe someone like him coming into the club, could work.

"It can soon change. I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom, there’s still good things going on at United, but they’ve got to get the manager.

"If the manager is not right, then the rest will just fall apart."
