The former Monaco man is in good form and has already scored eight goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions.
At such an early stage in his career, Mbappe has already won the World Cup with France and he has established himself as one of the best players in world football.
The 20-year-old has also been named on the 30-man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or after coming fourth in last year’s edition.
Mourinho is currently working as a pundit while he awaits his next team, and he has compared the attacking style of the France international to the former Inter Milan star man, hailing the youngster as a ‘special player’.
“Mbappe's qualities are absolutely incredible,” Mourinho told Telefoot.
“His playing style, what he can do in a football game, it's really special.”
“And you have to be really special and have unique qualities [in football]. When you look at the specificity of his qualities, he is really different from other players.”
“The only player that comes to my memory [to compare] is Ronaldo Nazario. They are players with unique qualities. When you play against them, you are afraid."
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager underlined Mbappe’s humility and recalled the time he spoke with him during the recent FIFA Best Awards.
“I spoke with Kylian for three minutes at the FIFA The Best ceremony,” added Mourinho.
“When he speaks with me, he also talks with my two or three friends. He speaks with everyone with simplicity and with the right education.”
