Teams from the same country and team who were in the same group are not permitted to meet at this stage of the competition. Group winners cannot also face each other at this point.
After UEFA reconvened in the afternoon, another group of mouthwatering ties have been released, with Paris Saint Germain's clash with Real Madrid touted as the biggest tie.
Liverpool have been drawn against Inter Milan while finishing second does not look bad for Chelsea after all, as the European champions were paired with French champions Lille.
The final for this season's Champions League will be played at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, Russia on 28 May 2022.
Chelsea are the current holders in the competition after beating Manchester City 1-0 in Portugal in May.
