EPL ROUND-UP: Top Three Secure Vital Wins

The top three Premier League teams all secured vital wins on an enthralling day on Saturday.

Champions Manchester City saw off Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium while Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool got home wins over Leeds United, Southampton and Aston Villa respectively.

Raheem Sterling was the hero for Pep Guardiola’s men as his second half penalty got them over the line against 10-men Wolves. Raul Jimenez earned two quick yellow cards on the cusp of half time as the visitors played the entirety of the second period with a man disadvantage.

Arsenal dispatched Southampton 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium, with goals coming from Alexandre Lacazette, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Magalhaes.

Chelsea did it the hard way at Stamford Bridge against Marcelo Bielsa’s men thanks to two penalties from Jorginho. Mason Mount cancelled out Raphinha’s opener from the penalty spot and substitute Joe Gelhardt got Leeds’ second goal as the Blues run out 3-2 winners.

Steven Gerrard’s return to Anfield ended in defeat as Mohamed Salah’s second half penalty gave Jurgen Klopp’s side all three points.

On Friday, Watford let a vital lead from Emmanuel Dennis slip in the final ten minutes to lose 2-1 at Brentford.
