'We Were Like A Punch-Drunk Boxer' - Solskjaer Reflects On Man United’s Loss To Liverpool

Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has used a boxing analogy to describe last Sunday's abysmal result against Liverpool.

Solskjaer says the Red Devils were like a punch-drunk boxer when they lost 5-0 to their bitterest rivals.

Manchester United had a long week and will be looking to atone for their sins on Saturday when they come up against Tottenham Hotspur in London.

United currently sit seventh on the Premier League table, eight points away from league leaders Chelsea.

Solskjaer was talking to the media in his press conference on Friday and he reflected on United’s last weekend drubbing at home against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

He admitted his men’s display against the Reds was unacceptable but has urged United to pick themselves up and go again.

"You have to hold our hands and that performance is not acceptable," Solskjaer said.

"You have to look at why it went as it did. I used the analogy of it feeling like we were a boxer, punch drunk, knocked down in the first four minutes.

"We had a chance, we conceded a goal and we wanted to sort it out and went a bit too open, too frantic against a good team. You see Tyson Fury when he gets knocked down a couple of times. It is remarkable how calm and composed he is when the count gets to six, seven, eight and he gets up and he’s ready to go again.

"Minds have to be better but we've had to look at different things as well and the communication has to be direct."
